Actor Clifton Collins Jr. (The Event) has joined the cast of Guillermo del Toro’s latest film Pacific Rim. He’ll share the big screen with fellow actors Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, and Willem Dafoe.
From a script by screenwriter Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans), the film is said to be an epic monster tale set in Japan, in which a future earth defends itself from a series of alien attacks with the use of giant robots. No details yet on Collins Jr.’s role in the film. Currently in pre-production, the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 12, 2013.
Collins Jr. has acted in a number of films and, though he’s never really been in the spotlight, he’s a solid character actor. Whenever I see him on-screen I can’t help but find him truly believable. I’m happy to hear that he’s gotten himself cast in a film that’s sure to be a future summer blockbuster.
How do you feel about the film’s casting so far?
