Hoping to make his father proud, Clint Eastwood’s son, Scott, may replace Charlie Hunnam in Fifty Shades of Grey. According to Just Jared, the rising actor, who has a role alongside Brad Pitt in the upcoming WWII flick Fury, is testing for the part of Christian Grey in Universal’s adaptation.
Said to have a final decision for us in a few weeks, the studio has narrowed its search down to five, say sources close to the project. Aside from Eastwood, Alexander Skarsgard, Theo James, Francois Arnaud, Jamie Dornen and Christian Cooke are all in the running. But wait, that’s not five, that’s six. Perhaps someone has dropped out?
To be honest, I’m not at all familiar with Mr. Eastwood (Scott, that is). Often credited as Scott Reeves, he’s appeared in films like Invictus, Gran Torino, Trouble With the Curve and Flags of our Fathers (starting to see a pattern?). To be fair, he’s also had roles in projects that daddy hasn’t directed, like Chasing Mavericks and Texas Chainsaw 3D.
Obviously, the studio is looking for a fresh face. Aside from Skarsgard, all of the rumored contenders are relative unknowns, which makes sense for this type of role. There’s no word on who the frontrunner is but with an August 1st, 2014 release date set, it won’t be long now before we hear who will be playing Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey.
Whoever it does end up being, god help him.
