Contraband Trailer

Opening on January 13th is Contraband, a new crime thriller starring Mark Wahlberg. Ben Foster, Kate Beckinsale and Giovanni Ribisi will support Wahlberg in what looks to be a fairly run of the mill thriller. From the looks of the trailer, it doesn't necessarily seem like it's going to be awful, it just looks far too similar to a number of other Wahlberg films.

Ben Foster, Kate Beckinsale and Giovanni Ribisi will support Wahlberg in what looks to be a fairly run of the mill thriller. From the looks of the trailer, it doesn’t necessarily seem like it’s going to be awful, it just looks far too similar to a number of other Wahlberg films.

Based on the 2008 Icelandic thriller Reykjavík-Rotterdam, Contraband will likely be a generic and familiar thriller that may just be good enough for a one time watch. The one shining spot I do see is Ben Foster, who usually delivers exceptional performances. But is he enough to save the film?

Check out the trailer below and see for yourself.

Chris Farraday long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy, botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs, Chris is forced back into doing what he does best — running contraband — to settle Andy’s debt. Chris is a legendary smuggler and quickly assembles a crew with the help of his best friend, Sebastian, to head to Panama and return with millions in counterfeit bills.

Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops and hit men before his wife, Kate, and sons become their target.
