When you’re dealing with characters such as Captain America who have many, many decades of history in the comics backing them up, it’s not like there’ll ever be a shortage of villains/supporting characters to choose from when making the movies. As such, we’ve already seen folks like Red Skull, Bucky Barnes, Arnim Zola, the Falcon and more show up over the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But if there’s one Cap-related character who many feel got over-looked, it’s without a doubt Crossbones, who was played by Frank Grillo in the MCU. First introduced simply as Brock Rumlow, a sleeper agent of Hydra, in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, his screentime was unfortunately reduced when he finally became Crossbones a few years later in Civil War. And, of course, he was then killed off in the opening salvo.
Still, there are many fans out there who’d like to see one of the Sentinel of Liberty’s greatest modern villains make a return and though it hasn’t happened just yet – save for that quick cameo in Endgame – it doesn’t sound like it’s out of the question. After all, according to Grillo, he still has 5 more movies left on his Marvel contract.
While speaking to ComicBook.com to promote his new film Point Blank, the actor revealed the following:
“You know what? I got five more movies that I’m obligated to do for Marvel if they ever call me. So who knows, man?”
Of course, just because he’s got a few films left on his contract, that doesn’t mean the studio will ever bring him back. Still, it’s interesting to learn that the possibility remains. After all, though he was seemingly killed in Civil War, we never saw the body. And you have to imagine Marvel knows the fans feel that Crossbones got a bit of a shaft.
For now though, we’ll just have to wait and see if the villain factors into their Phase 4 plans, but tell us, would you be into seeing Grillo return to the MCU in an increased capacity? Sound off down below and let us know.
