Daniel Radcliffe Says No To A Cameo In Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Ever since Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them was announced, speculation as to whether Daniel Radcliffe would have a cameo has run rampant. The actor told The Hollywood Reporter back in October that he “didn’t think he was coming back” but like everyone else, he doesn’t “know anything about these new films.”

While in Toronto today to promote his upcoming romantic comedy The F Word (known as What If in the U.S), I asked Radcliffe for further clarification on if we could possibly see him in the upcoming Potter spinoff. Here’s what he had to say:

“No. None at all. Absolutely no chance.”

I then asked if he would ever consider reprising his role as Harry in future films, to which he replied:

“I don’t know. I really have no idea. I don’t know if J.K. Rowling has any plans to write anymore of the series with Harry as a central character. In the last story she wrote Harry is 35, so I’m not old enough to play that yet. Thank god, too, otherwise I’d definitely be getting asked about that. In terms of Fantastic Beasts though I definitely won’t be showing up in that.”

While it was more or less assumed that Radcliffe wouldn’t have a role in the spinoff, this seems like the final nail in the coffin for those holding out hope that they’d be seeing Harry show up. I think it’s for the best though. Not that I would object to seeing the actor reprise the role that made him a mega movie star, but I don’t feel that it would be best to shoehorn him into Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film should stand on its own and it wouldn’t be the right place for Radcliffe to reprise his role.

Tell us, are you upset to hear that Daniel Radcliffe won’t be showing up in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? Sound off below!
