Is The Dark Knight A Killer In Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will introduce us to the DC Films Universe version of the Caped Crusader for the first time, but is this Batman going to kill? Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will introduce us to the DC Films Universe version of the Caped Crusader for the first time, but is this Batman going to kill? While the comic book version of the character has always been against taking lives, Tim Burton’s Batman killed, and Christopher Nolan’s version left Ra’s al Ghul to die in Batman Begins.

With that in mind, would it really be a big deal if Ben Affleck’s older and hardened Dark Knight were to deal with criminals in an equally brutal manner? Well, here’s what producer Charles Roven had to say on the matter:

“[Batman] is not giving people a chance. He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner. He’s older, [and] he’s seen the worst of what man can do. He’s been darkened by it, he’s tougher, he’s angrier, I guess. He’s still lost those that are near and dear to him, and not necessarily from old age or disease.”

For now, it’s probably best not to take these comments too literally, as Roven never explicitly stated that Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s Batman is going to kill. Besides, we already know from the trailers that he brutally assaults those he takes down and even brands them, so chances are that’s what the producer is referring to.

We’ll find out for sure when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hits the big screen this March. Tell us, though, how would you feel about Batman crossing the line like this?
