Dave Bautista Teases Iron Man And Star-Lord Scenes In Avengers: Infinity War

Sixteen films into the MCU, and Marvel's prized asset shows no sign of slowing down - if anything, this most ambitious of cinematic universes is only going in one direction. With pedal firmly on metal, the studio is slowly beginning to prepare for the November launch of Thor: Ragnarok which, perhaps more so than any other Marvel film before it, serves as a galactic primer for Avengers: Infinity War. Headed up by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Infinity War is a titanic blockbuster that looks set to dial things up to 11, and in the fallout of SDCC, Joe Russo has been keeping fans on a knife-edge by teasing all of the many "intense surprises" in store.

With pedal firmly on metal, the studio is slowly beginning to prepare for the November launch of Thor: Ragnarok which, perhaps more so than any other Marvel film before it, serves as a galactic primer for Avengers: Infinity War. Headed up by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Infinity War is a titanic blockbuster that looks set to dial things up to 11, and in the fallout of SDCC, Joe Russo has been keeping fans on a knife-edge by teasing all of the many “intense surprises” in store.

But part of the MCU’s continued success is its innate ability to punctuate those dark, somber scenes with a sense of humor, and that’s something that will continue into the release of Infinity War. With such a huge ensemble to play with, the Russo Brothers are a little spoilt for choice when it comes to bringing out the absolute best from each costumed crusader – for instance, the natural sarcasm of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark will surely tee up a rib-tickling juxtaposition with Drax’s literalism.

Spidey and Strange is another duo that’s been name-dropped of late, but in a new interview with Yahoo, Dave Bautista drew attention to the “spontaneous combustion” that resulted from placing Downey Jr. into the same room as Chris Pratt, who, of course, plays Star-Lord in the MCU.

When asked what the scenes that those two share are like, here’s what the actor had to say:

“When you put those two guys in a room together, it’s like a spontaneous combustion. Talk about two talented guys who are so witty and smart and honed-in on their craft. It was a spectacle, and I’m so excited I got to witness it firsthand.”

While there are a number of duos that we can’t wait to see in the film, Star-Lord and Iron Man is definitely one that’s right at the top of our list, as both Chris Pratt and Robert Downey Jr. are tremendous actors who absolutely light up the screen – and we can’t even imagine what it’ll be like when they’re sharing scenes together.

Thankfully, it won’t be long before we get to see just that, as Joe and Anthony Russo’s landmark event movie is currently on course for a release on May 4th, 2018, and it’ll herald the advent of Josh Brolin’s Mad Titan and his squadron of galactic accomplices. Yes, after much foreshadowing, we know Thanos to be the primary antagonist of the Russo Brothers’ ensemble piece, who wages an Infinity War to bring ‘balance’ back to the universe. Standing in his way are Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, along with some of their newfound allies: Spider-Man, for one, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, and even Loki, who appeared to be holding the Tesseract in that leaked teaser trailer.

It’s an event movie that is unlike any other, and we’ll be able to find out what all the fuss is about once Avengers: Infinity War descends upon theaters in less than a year. The fourth, so-far untitled Avengers movie will then release in May of 2019, by which point viewers will be acquainted with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and her ’90s-set origin story. March 8th, 2019 is the date for your diaries.
