Day of the Dead: Bloodline, director Hèctor Hernández Vicens’ remake of George A. Romero’s 1985 classic Day of the Dead, is quickly approaching and the marketing machine is now starting to kick into gear.

Yesterday, we got to see some awesome new images from the film and today, IGN has the full trailer to show off (check it out down below). It introduces Max, the movie’s version of Bub who’s supposed to be part human and part zombie, while we’re also treated to plenty of gory violence. Which means hopefully we’ll be getting some neat new zombie effects, even if they’re not the work of Tom Savini.

It’s still a bit too early to make the call on how this one will turn out, but after watching the preview, we’re certainly intrigued. At the very least, it’s probably safe to say that it’ll end up being better than the last remake, not to mention the incoherent madness that was Day of the Dead 2: Contagion.

Still, I can’t help but wish they’d just remake Romero’s original script. Initially, Day of the Dead was supposed to be a big budget zombie epic, and I’d want nothing more than to see that come to life in the director’s honor.

That being said, I’m sure this won’t be the last remake we get, so maybe the next one will be based on that original idea? In a world where very few R-rated zombie films are sent to mainstream theaters anymore, it’d certainly be nice to see, wouldn’t it?

Day of the Dead: Bloodline hits cinemas, VOD and Digital HD on January 5th, 2018 and stars Sophie Skelton, Johnathon Schaech, Marcus Vanco, Jeff Gum, Lorina Kamburova, Nick Loeb, Rachel O’Meara, Debbie Sherman, Luke Cousins, Nathan Cooper, Lillian Blankenship and Cristina Serafini.
