DC defenders urge James Gunn to give the one bright spot of a major misfire another shot

It was a pretty big bright spot, too.

There’s not much to be said about the farce that Black Adam ended up being; it was definitely a movie that came out late last year, it was definitely part of the soon-to-be defunct DC Extended Universe, and it definitely delivered on its promise to be a film about Black Adam, but even that last point is somewhat debatable.

All this to say that, as far as major DC characters go, Black Adam is one that new DC Studios gaffer James Gunn will want to keep in the vault for a bit, at least until the world forgets about the box office bomb that the antihero’s first big screen outing ended up being. According to the masses of r/DC_Cinematic, though, here are still a few pieces that Gunn may be wise to revisit sooner rather than later.

Indeed, it’s safe to say that the world would be okay with more Justice Society; the praise for Pierce Brosnan and Aldis Hodge as Doctor Fate and Hawkman goes far and wide, and while Cyclone and Atom Smasher weren’t exactly scene-stealers, they could easily be turned into such if put in the right hands.

Of course, “the right hands” is very much the key word, but we get the distinct feeling that Gunn can do a bit better than what we got from Black Adam.

And while the first chapter of Gunn’s DC Universe looks locked and loaded, the Justice Society remains free real estate for countless exciting stories all on their own.

So, even though it might be best to let Black Adam cool off for a little bit, the people are demanding more Justice Society, and we can only hope that Gunn’s instincts will lead him to this outlandishly entertaining superhero team before long.
