DC Reportedly Developing Live-Action Adam Strange Movie

It's been around since 2013, but the DCEU has still only just scratched the surface of the potential to build a wide-ranging DC cinematic universe that really gets to grips with the scope of the comics. As we know, Warner Bros. has various movies at different stages of development right now and another one we've been told we can add to the list is a solo film for planet-hopping hero Adam Strange.

We Got This Covered has been informed by our source – who’s given us accurate DC scoops in the past like Black Mask being gay in Birds of Prey and Robert Pattinson playing Batman – that an Adam Strange movie is being worked on at WB. There aren’t any concrete details available about it as of yet as it’s only in the earliest stages of development, but we’ve heard that it’s on the cards.

Of course, Strange is just the latest Golden and Silver Age character that DC’s hoping to do something with on the big screen. We’ve previously brought you the news that movies for the Justice Society of America, Vixen and Hawkman are also in the works.

For those unfamiliar with the character, he dates back to 1958 and was originally pitched as a classic John Carter-like pulp sci-fi hero. Adam Strange was an archaeologist who found himself transported to the alien planet of Rann via a Zeta Beam, becoming the planet’s hero and protecting its people from extraterrestrial threats.

TV viewers, however, will be more familiar with the version from Syfy’s Kryptonas played by Shaun Sipos. This Adam travelled into the past to protect Superman’s legacy, guiding the Man of Steel’s grandfather Seg-El to make sure that history goes as it should.

DC fans have noted that this take on the hero is much closer to Booster Gold, however, so presumably the movie will return him to his pulpy routes. You could easily make a modern Flash Gordon-type blockbuster out of the character, for instance, and tap into the thirst for that kind of film that Marvel previously nailed with Thor: Ragnarok.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted as more becomes clear on the project but in the meantime, tell us, are you interested in seeing Adam Strange join the DCEU? Let us know in the comments section down below.
