DCEU Fan Art Imagines Dane DeHaan As Jason Todd

Of all the hanging plot threads that fans want the DCEU to explore, one of the most interesting is the death of Jason Todd, as hinted in both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. The inclusion of a Robin outfit defiled with Joker graffiti on display in the Batcave told us that, as per the comics, Batman's nemesis had murdered the second Boy Wonder in the continuity of the movie universe.

The inclusion of a Robin outfit defiled with Joker graffiti on display in the Batcave told us that, as per the comics, Batman’s nemesis had murdered the second Boy Wonder in the continuity of the movie universe. So, let’s imagine for a second that this tragic event was depicted in some future DCEU film. If that indeed happens, who should play the part?

Well, one Redditer, going by the suitably Joker-savvy username @JNapierrr, has shared a piece of fan art that imagines Dane DeHaan in the role of Jason Todd, and you can check it out down below:

DeHaan has appeared in a number of superhero movies and comic book adaptations throughout his career, so joining the DC universe would be a natural step for the actor. First up, he played the warped Andrew in 2012’s Chronicle and then followed that up by portraying Harry Osborn AKA the Green Goblin in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Finally, he starred in 2017’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, based off a classic French graphic novel series.

As fans know, the Joker’s brutal beating wasn’t the end for Todd. He was later resurrected as the gun-toting vigilante Red Hood, which pitted him against his old allies Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. There’s been no word on whether an appearance from Red Hood is actually planned for the future of the DCEU but, if it is, then the most obvious suggestions for where he should turn up are Matt Reeves’ The Batman and Chris McKay’s Nightwing.

Should Dane DeHaan be the one to play him, though? Or do you have a better idea for who should bring the character to life in the DCEU? Have your say in the comments section down below.
