It’s looking increasingly likely that Deadpool 2 will signal the return of Juggernaut, after all.
With little over a month to go until the Merc’s second coming, 20th Century Fox’s marketing machine is beginning to fire on all cylinders as we approach May 18th. And one need only look to this morning’s blistering TV spot for evidence of that.
In typically hilarious fashion, it showed Wade Wilson hosting auditions for the X-Force, all but confirming that Deadpool 2 will share some connective tissue with the in-development team-up movie that’s coming by way of Drew Goddard. Such a crossover will involve a number of prominent, high-profile mutants, including Domino and Josh Brolin’s Cable, who look set to steal headlines left, right and center based on Deadpool 2‘s performance among test audiences.
But they’re by no means the only newcomers lining Fox’s cast sheet. Case in point: Terry Crews, Shioli Kutsuna, Julian Dennison and It star Bill Skarsgård all feature in the Deadpool 2 ensemble, and their on-screen mutants may well be rubbing shoulders with Juggernaut, if this screenshot is any indication.
It’s pulled from Deadpool 2‘s most recent promo (h/t Omega Underground), and appears to show Stefan Kapicic’s Colossus jamming a knife or some form of blade into a particularly large opponent. Juggernaut, perhaps? It’s certainly possible, as the two characters have come to blows numerous times in the X-Men comics.
Then again, this screenshot, which is lifted from the 0:16 mark, could well be Colossus ramming his fist into another armored villain that bears no relation to Juggernaut, so we’ll just have to wait until Deadpool 2 opens on May 18th before we have a firm answer one way or another.
