One month on from the moment when Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) officially climbed aboard Deadpool 2 – silencing nine kinds of rumors in one fell swoop – and it seems the actor is now beginning to fully immerse himself in the rigorous training regime. Over the weekend, Brolin uploaded a photo to Instagram (via Screen Rant) to signal that he’s now four weeks into the program, one which forced him to swear off sugar, bread, pasta. Because who said training for a Hollywood superhero movie was ever easy?

Brolin, who also plays the part of Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is clearly gearing up for a huge 2018 – both Infinity War and Deadpool 2 are poised to open within the space of a month – and considering that David Leitch and the rest of the crew are prepared to get the cameras rolling late next month, it won’t be too long before fans get the chance to see Oscar-nominee kitted out as Nathan Summers.

Per Instagram:

The machine is begin built, it seems, and we can hardly wait to see Josh Brolin embody the role of Cable on the silver screen. He’s one of two major additions to Deadpool 2 – the other being Zazie Beetz as Domino – so Ryan Reynolds’ gun-toting mercenary can surely expect to have his hands full come 2018.

Speaking of which, Deadpool 2 is now on course to hit theaters on June 1st of next year. It’ll be bookended by another two superhero tentpoles from Fox: Josh Boone’s New Mutants (April 13th) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2nd). It has all the makings of a truly tantalizing lineup, but of the three, which are you most excited for?
