Deadpool 2 Post-Credits Scene Almost Featured A Whole New X-Force Team

Early plans for the Deadpool 2 post-credits scene included an entirely new lineup for the X-Force – save for Peter, Domino and Wade Wilson, of course.

You’re no doubt familiar with Domino, Shatterstar, Bedlam, Zeitgeist, Vanisher and the real MVP, Peter, but it turns out Deadpool 2‘s post-credits scene almost featured an entirely new X-Force lineup.

That revelation came as part of the Deadpool Q&A Academy screening (h/t ComicBook.com), in which screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick shared the stage with the Merc With a Mouth himself, Ryan Reynolds, to discuss all things Deadpool, including the cheeky, family-friendly festive treat that’s currently going by the name Once Upon a Deadpool.

During the panel, though, Reese and Wernick got around to discussing the canned post-credits scenes for Deadpool 2, one of which would’ve drafted in an entirely new ensemble to replace the original members, all of which kicked the bucket in a scene that wouldn’t look out of place in a Final Destination movie – save for Domino, of course. And Peter!

Un-Used CODA’S involves Deadpool peeing on Shatrestar’s grave, Peter showing up with a prosthetic arm and an entire new X-Force team auditioning. DEADPOOL 3 – Ryan said there is no shortage of ideas for DP 3 and in fact Paul Wernick pitched him a fresh take in the lobby prior to the Q&A. Good news all around. Wishing the film and its award campaign the very best!

In related news, 20th Century Fox is reportedly preparing a big Oscar push for Deadpool 2, though if Logan was unable to land any major awards outside of the screenwriting department, we can’t imagine the Merc will fare any better come February. But hey, we’ve been wrong before!

As for Deadpool, last we reported, Ryan Reynolds cautioned that a third standalone pic wasn’t necessarily guaranteed, as Drew Goddard begins focusing resources on that all-important X-Force movie. It’s yet to nail down an official release window, though we imagine production will begin during the early stages of 2019.
