Back in February, the David Leitch-directed sequel circled back into production in Vancouver in order to capture some additional photography and pick-ups before its release on May 18th. That’s all well and good, but the deluge of half-baked rumors that followed only muddied the waters, leading to a scenario in which factoids were circulated online and fiction passed as fact – i.e. those reports claiming Fox’s summer tentpole had bombed with its test audiences.

Thankfully, in a bid to set the record straight, The Hollywood Reporter has compiled a new report revealing that Deadpool 2‘s test scores were actually pretty solid – more than that, they were bloody stellar, with the final cut seemingly notching a 98 with its audience in Dallas. Oh, and as if that wasn’t exciting enough, there’s also news that the sequel’s reshoots partly involved a “secret cameo” appearance that was filmed in Los Angeles. Let the speculation commence.

If history has taught us anything, it’s that Ryan Reynolds’ gun-toting vigilante has a knack for breaking the fourth wall, so the possibilities are endless, really. We know the actor is a Betty White superfan, so perhaps the untitled Deadpool 2 has carved out room for one of the industry’s Golden Girls? Either that, or David Leitch and the team have another trick up their collective sleeve. Let’s just hope it remains under wraps until the finished product is ready to screen in theaters on May 18th.

That’s six weeks earlier than initially expected, and the fact that 20th Century Fox was bullish enough to place Deadpool 2 in the company of Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story ought to have allayed any fears that the film was in trouble. Because, frankly, it seems Leitch’s sequel is safe as houses.
