Thanks entirely to its title and premise, the Marvel Cinematic Universe rumor mill went completely and utterly off the rails in the buildup to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with the list of “leaked” cameos mounting up to quite frankly ridiculous proportions.

While Benedict Cumberbatch’s solo sequel did rope in a handful of notable guest stars, they were all constricted almost entirely to the Illuminati sequence, leaving those who’d hedged their bets on that really being Tom Cruise as an Iron Man variant in the trailers looking awfully foolish.

However, with Jennifer Garner confirmed to be making a shock return as Elektra in Deadpool 3, it looks as though the Merc with a Mouth’s long-awaited MCU debut is set to make good on genuine multiversal madness this time around, especially when Garner’s Daredevil co-star and ex-husband Ben Affleck was recently rumored to have been spied on set.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is obviously the most notable addition so far, with speculation having long since been pointed in the direction of Halle Berry, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and many more.

Throw in talk of Owen Wilson’s Mobius and the TVA, and it’s beginning to seem as if the entire plot might just revolve around Deadpool shutting down 20th Century Fox’s Marvel universe for good, which has the potential to be phenomenal.

There may even be plenty more surprises in store as production continues, but from the outside looking in, Deadpool 3 is shaping up to be everything the MCU die-hards wanted Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to be, and then some.
