Alright, folks. It’s time to put any and all fears to rest in regards to Deadpool. It looks like Fox did it. They took the beloved comic book character, gave him his own R-rated outing and absolutely knocked it out of the freaking park. By all accounts, the Ryan Reynolds-led flick is a complete success, and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Though the film doesn’t hit theatres until February 12th, special screenings of an unfinished version were held for fans in NYC and LA today, and the reactions pouring out on Twitter are tremendously positive. Everyone seems to have fallen in love with it, with some people saying that Deadpool could be Marvel’s best movie yet.
[zergpaid]We probably don’t need to tell you how encouraging this is to hear. Deadpool was a huge gamble for a number of reasons, and the fact that audiences are now embracing it is terrific news, as it signifies a major step forward for the genre. Now that studios see how well an R-rated comic book film can do, it opens up a plethora of possibilities for future adaptations.
Of course, it still remains to be seen whether or not Deadpool can make a dent at the box office, and that will really be the true test, but judging by these reactions, we can’t see it not bringing in a healthy haul for Fox.
Deadpool hits theatres on February 12th. Until then, check out the Twitter reactions below and get excited for what could be the best comic book film of the year.
