Something that Deadpool has become known for that’s no doubt helped shoot his popularity into the stratosphere is his irreverent sense of humor. And although the subject of today’s discussion is not an official product of Marvel or Disney – or even Fox, for that matter – there’s no denying that it’s in keeping with the character.
Recently, animator Butch Hartman had the genius idea of combining his love for Deadpool with that of his equal affection of Disney, thus yielding a YouTube video that sees the Merc with a Mouth letting it go as he’s superimposed into various scenes from classic animated films.
Throughout the four-and-a-half minute compilation, you’ll see Wade Wilson invade clips from the likes of Steamboat Itchy Willie, Frozen, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp, The Lion King, Aladdin and several others. As amusing as this endeavor is, one can’t help but think that if it were up to Deadpool himself, he would’ve inserted himself into one of the several scenes from said films allegedly containing thinly veiled innuendo.
But, I guess that’s the beauty of fan creations. Unless Fox and Disney are able to come to terms in the future, we wouldn’t expect anything official comparable to this, let alone Deadpool showing up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still, one can hold out hope for some variant covers at some point – or just lay down some good money for a notable artist to whip up a whimsical commission the next time you’re at a con.
