Deadpool’s Marathon Sex Scene Was Originally Even Longer

There's no denying that Tim Miller's Deadpool took full advantage of its R rating, with a barrage of inventively profane language and lashings of blood, but it also included a pretty graphic sex scene between Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and Vanessa (Morena Baccarin). The sequence consisted of several shots of the duo in various positions, sporting different outfits to represent the different holidays of the year, such as Valentine's Day, Halloween and International Women's Day (something tells me Wade will remember that one). Throughout it all, it managed to be sexy and also very funny at the same time.

For those who don’t recall, the sequence consisted of several shots of the duo in various positions, sporting different outfits to represent the different holidays of the year, such as Valentine’s Day, Halloween and International Women’s Day (something tells me Wade will remember that one). Throughout it all, it managed to be sexy and also very funny at the same time.

While appearing on Conan recently, Baccarin revealed that the scene was actually longer at one point but a lot of it wound up being cut from the film. Though that might be disappointing for many, the Gotham actress was actually very happy that more of the marathon wasn’t shown:

We ended up leaving just a lot on the cutting room floor, because there are a lot of holidays. And I feel good about that—the part that was left out. I literally mean that [was] enough sex. Like nobody needs to see more than what was in the movie.

I’m sure there will be legions of fans of both actors who would disagree, but then again, they’re not the ones that have to simulate sex half-naked in a room full of people – which is no doubt an uncomfortable thing for anyone to go through. As such, it’s easy to see where Baccarin is coming from.

Looking ahead, the actress will reprise her role alongside Reynolds for Deadpool 2, which now has an official release date of June 1, 2018. They’ll be joined by most of the original cast as well as Josh Brolin as Cable and Zazie Beetz as Domino. With production expected to get underway this summer, we should hear more soon, so be sure to stay tuned.
