As it turns out, the tradition will continue on Sunday, January 13 and Monday, January 14 when the very same outfit brings a special double feature to cinemas. You see, in advance of the second in the two-part epic’s upcoming Blu-ray release, both The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen will be screened back-to-back. Yes, you and your buddies will get to take in the entire saga while sitting in front of the silver screen.

In my view, if RotS is anywhere near as good as TDoS, then we’re in for a real treat. I mean, even though DC’s latest animated outing did technically tread the same water as 2007’s Superman: Doomsday, it was fantastic enough for this critic to award it a glowing review.

Come to think of it, the next installment may have even more going for it, especially when you factor in how it’ll feature appearances made by the likes of Cyborg Superman, Superboy, Steel and the Eradicator, each of the four possible replacements for Big Blue who headlined comic books of their own back in the 1990’s during an era that kept readers on their toes.

Though my theory may not pan out, I wouldn’t put it past WB to release The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen as one fluid movie cut together somewhere down the line, just as they did with Batman: The Dark Knight Returns a few years ago. If you’ll recall, Frank Miller’s classic graphic novel was originally adapted in two parts before being granted the Deluxe Edition treatment.

In the meantime, though, Reign of the Supermen arrives by its lonesome on Blu-ray on January 29, 2019.
