Yes, if there was ever any doubt that Paramount Pictures’ upcoming – and indeed long-awaited – sequel would retain the general idiocy of the 2001 original, today’s one-sheet ought to dispel and lingering apprehensions for better or worse.

Reprising their roles after almost a decade-and-a-half on the sidelines, Derek Zoolander and Hansel find themselves scrambling to stay ahead of the game in a fashion landscape that is dramatically different since their last outing. Instagram, social media and, evidently, the rise in selfies will play into the story of Zoolander 2, and it’ll be interesting to see how the film pokes fun at the vain and self-obsessed stereotypes of 2015. We anticipate that Paramount releasing a poster is a means of laying the groundwork for a full-length trailer, so stay tuned for more.

In the meantime, when quizzed about the cult status of the original and trying to emulate its success 15 years later, Owen Wilson touched base on the “really funny” script (penned by Ben Stiller and Justin Theroux) and general set-up of the film.

It’s funny because the movie didn’t do that well but I guess over the years it’s developed a cult following. When we first announced the movie at the Paris fashion show, we didn’t know what the reaction would be but it seemed to be like a rock concert. I think that got us excited to then go and film the movie in Rome.

Well it’s not like it’s The Sixth Sense but they’re trying not to have us talk too much about it. But the movie picks up fourteen years later and Hansel at this point is not modelling the way that he used to be. I think the script’s really funny and hopefully the movie will turn out as good.

Stiller is once again directing, while Christine Taylor, Will Ferrell and Billy Zane are primed to return, along with newcomers Kristen Wiig, Olivia Munn, Penelope Cruz and Fred Armisen.

Zoolander 2 will strut off the catwalk and into theaters on February 12, 2016. In the meantime, you can catch a glimpse of the two aforementioned imbeciles in their element via the ridiculously, ridiculously good looking poster below.
