The next piece of the puzzle in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman film has fallen into place. Diane Lane has joined the film and will play the role of Martha Kent, Clark’s mother. Snyder spoke about the casting choice and said that “this was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
Right now Lane joins a cast of only Henry Cavill, who will be playing Superman. That being said, there are serious rumours swirling around the project that link actors like Kevin Costner and Viggo Mortensen to the film. If those rumors come true, this could turn out to be one hell of a film. Lane is a great actress who has given us some very good performances, most recently in Secretariat. I think she’ll make a great addition to the cast and my excitement for this film is ramping up rather quickly. I can’t wait to see who joins the cast next.
