New Concept Art Provides An MCU Makeover For Doctor Doom And The Silver Surfer

As the dust begins to settle from last week’s historic Hollywood merger – on the off-chance you’ve been living under a rock, Disney hoovered up most of Fox’s entertainment assets as part of a $52.4 billion acquisition – Marvel Studios is within arm’s reach of regaining control of the X-Men, Deadpool and Fantastic Four, who will presumably be incorporated into the grand Marvel Cinematic Universe over the next five-to-ten years.

It’s an announcement that has sent the Internet into a tizzy, and in order to strike while the iron is still piping hot, BossLogic has produced two rather excellent pieces of concept art that provide an MCU makeover to two iconic villains: the Silver Surfer, and Doctor Doom (full name: Dr. Victor Von Doom). Feast your eyes:

Long before the Disney-Fox merger, Noah Hawley of Legion had actually signed on to launch a Doctor Doom spinoff movie – for the record, Dan Stevens and Ben Mendelsohn (Captain Marvel) both expressed an interest in the mooted project – though it’s unclear if Marvel will continue with those plans once Disney’s acquisition is signed, sealed and delivered.

Word is Kevin Feige wants to cross-pollinate those iconic mutants with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its own roster of established characters, but at least for now, nothing official has been disclosed.

Another factor that prompted Disney’s pursuit of 21st Century Fox was the launch of its new streaming service, which will purportedly boot online with a live-action Star Wars series and Toy Story 4. There are precious few details available for what is, essentially, Disney’s answer to Netflix, but we’ll be keeping you right up-to-date as this story develops. Ditto for Marvel’s vision for the future, as it’s currently unclear what Kevin Feige and Co. plan to do with all their new toys. Avengers vs. X-Men, perhaps?

Circling back to BossLogic’s artwork, though, what do you make of each piece? You can, as always, drop your thoughts via the comments section.
