While we’re not expecting an announcement confirming Doctor Strange 2 until later this month, characteristically, Marvel has been hard at work on the sequel for some time now.

Back in August, for instance, the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) was awarded a lucrative sum – approximately $9.5 million –  to reprise the role, which coincided with the revelation that Doctor Strange 2 could begin principal photography as early as next spring.

Granted, this is all just hearsay until the Powers That Be corroborate otherwise, but given the fact that an undisclosed, Phase Four project is scheduled to start production sometime next June, and with Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson teasing some sort of proclamation pertaining to the Sorcerer Supreme, speculation is running rampant.

On the whole, I suppose Doctor Strange 2 does have the blessing of Kevin Feige, so it’ll only be a matter of time before the fan favorite hero is front and centre on a one-sheet again and, as fate would have it, there’s a mock-up floating around the interweb now.

Courtesy of RealityAvengers, the below piece of fan art, highlighting the Sorcerer Supreme, Wong (Benedict Wong) and Dr. Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) has teleported onto the Marvel Studios subreddit, but you might also notice that another Avenger has infiltrated the poster: Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen).

Although they’ve never actually met in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a team-up between Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange isn’t that farfetched. After all, the two do share a similar skill set and have fought side by side in the comic book medium.

Jumping back to reality, though, and it’s looking more and more likely that Doctor Strange 2 is headed for a spring/summer 2020 release, but as soon as we know for sure, we’ll certainly let you know.
