Variety just dropped a very exciting bit of casting news, as Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen is apparently in early talks to play a villain in Marvel’s Doctor Strange opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, who will fill the shoes of the Sorcerer Supreme.

Who he’d be playing is being kept under wraps, but considering Baron Mordo has been taken by Chiwetel Ejiofor, he could well be Strange’s best known enemy, Dormammu. In the comics, the character is a demonic entity whose head is permanently engulfed in flames… so maybe expect a few liberties taken there if that is indeed the role Mikkelsen is up for!

Marvel has been after the actor since he was forced to pull out of playing Malekith in Thor: The Dark World (a role which eventually went to Christopher Eccleston), and it looks like they’ve finally got their man now.

Scott Derrickson directs Doctor Strange, which will also star Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One. It’s set to hit theaters on November 4th, 2016.
