But how will Stephen Strange and Tony Stark interact in Infinity War? They’re both very different heroes, with the former deriving his powers from magic while the latter is a genius scientist, but they do have similar sarcastic, arguably arrogant personalities. That being said, we imagine that they won’t get along at first and that’s something which both actors recently spoke about.

Admitting that Strange and Stark will clash in the movie, Cumberbatch said that that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

“We do, we have a bit of a clash and that’s not a bad thing and that’s something to enjoy in the film, without spoiling anything, to see how that relationship unfolds,” the actor said.

Downey Jr. also touched on the relationship between the Sorcerer Supreme and the Armored Avenger, saying:

“I mean I should have known this just by watching it, but by being a big fan of the Doctor Strange standalone, too, if you think about it logically if you want to, superhero movies, Strange is the guy who actually can, if he has the wherewithal to do it, he’s the one who can run through all the outcomes and actually figure out what the most likely scenario is going to be.”

“And I think once Tony recognizes that that’s something that even though he thinks it might be within his control ultimately there’s a spiritual solution and if someone has the ability to have that kind of intuition, he can only stay at odds with them for so long.”

Finally, Cumberbatch hinted that the two heroes actually have more in common than you might think.

“For someone who’s a brilliant industrialist, materialist, someone whose logic and science works through the medium of technology as opposed to my going into the Eastern mysticism sort of … understanding of the cosmos and the multiverse, you would think there’s not much of a Venn diagram, but there is,” Cumberbatch said. “There completely is.”

Of course, it’s not only his relationship with Iron Man that we have to look forward to when it comes to Cumberbatch’s fan favorite. We’ve also heard a fair bit about his unlikely partnership with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. The Russo brothers have promised that the two characters have “great chemistry.” We got a hint of this ourselves in one of the recent trailers, too, which featured a hilarious moment as Peter Parker mistakes Strange’s moniker for a made-up superhero name.

And it all begins on April 27th. Yes, there’s an Infinity War on the horizon, and it’s poised to upend the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a villain who is at once horrifying, yet oddly empathetic.
