Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson prepares to bring the cavalry (spoilers: he is the cavalry) in the latest snap for Universal’s action sequel, Fast 8.

Continuing to shine the spotlight on his enigmatic man mountain, Luke Hobbs, Johnson took to Instagram to share the all-new action shot of his hulking ally walking away from an overturned car largely unscathed.

Given that F. Gary Gray’s 2017 sequel stands as Johnson’s fourth appearance in the Fast and Furious franchise, the actor himself has spoke at length about his desire to shake up the formula, and a shot of Luke Hobbs behind bars recently flamed rumors that Dwayne Johnson’s towering hero could potentially go rogue.

Whatever the outcome, switching gears to Gray’s Instagram feed and the filmmaker’s latest post offers a behind-the-scenes peek at Dwayne Johnson preparing to film an action sequence. The Iceman cometh, indeed.

In reprising his defining role as Luke Hobbs, Dwayne Johnson joins a cast that includes Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, Lucas Black, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Suicide Squad s Scott Eastwood, Kristofer Hivju, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron.

Fast 8 will drift into theaters on April 14. Plans are in place for two additional sequels beyond 2017, not to mention chatter of character-driven spinoffs that could potentially subject the Toretto crew to the prequel treatment.
