Dwayne Johnson’s Central Intelligence Character Revealed

Between Furious 7 and San Andreas, Dwayne Johnson has been busy this year cementing himself as an action MVP, but rest assured that the actor formerly known as The Rock still has a funny bone. Next year, he’ll topline spy comedy Central Intelligence with Kevin Hart, and as filming gets under way on the Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed pic, Johnson has taken to Instagram to reveal our first image of his character, named Bob.

Hart stars in the comedy as a mild-mannered accountant reminiscing about his high school glory days when he comes across a formerly nerdy classmate (Johnson). Now bulked up, the accountant’s former punching bag has become a CIA contract killer – and before long, the two are pulled into a scheme to sell military secrets.

Teaming the pint-sized, pent-up Hart with the charismatic brawn of Johnson is inspired casting, and any movie that finds The Rock up to his usual badass tricks with an added sense of humor is fine by me. The latter actor played a villainous operative in the terrific Get Smart redo back in 2008, and if he can tap into that same mixture of physical prowess and silly humor, Central Intelligence could easily shape up into one of the funniest movies of 2016. His character description, below, is certainly promising.

A blast crafting and creating this dude… The inspiration behind this character “Bob” has always been Tom Hanks in “BIG” with an added twist. He’s a grown man who’s extremely childlike and views the world thru exuberant and enthusiastic teenage eyes… Loves to wear his favorite Public Enemy shirt, cargo pants and sneakers to work.. and rocks a fanny pack which holds his Bruce Lee quotes and a condom (he’s always prepared). The “added twist” is Bob has an extremely high IQ and is one of the most lethal men on the planet as a C.I.A. contract killer. Oh the most important character trait.. He hates bullies. Can’t wait for y’all to meet “Bob”. #FightThePower #BeWaterMyFriend #FannyPackYetDeadly CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE. SUMMER 2016.
