Edgar Ramirez was quite talkative at the Deliver Us From Evil junket this past weekend in LA. The Venezuelan actor was more than happy to speak with journalists not only about the Scott Derrickson-directed horror film, but also about some of his future projects. While chatting with IGN, Ramirez was asked if Derrickson has approached him about Doctor Strange yet, to which he replied, “We’re talking. We’ve been talking.” Unfortunately, he wouldn’t say anymore, nor would he specify which part he was looking at.
While not a household name, Ramirez is still a very talented individual who has turned in strong performances in films like The Bourne Ultimatum, Wrath of the Titans, The Liberator and, of course, Carlos, among others. With Deliver Us From Evil arriving shortly, and a lead role already booked in the upcoming Point Break remake, the actor’s profile should definitely continue to rise stateside.
Now, while Ramirez says that he’s in talks, it could mean nothing at all. I’m sure almost every major talent in Hollywood has been talking with Derrickson about taking on a role in the film. Still, this is certainly exciting news, as I’m a big fan of the actor and his work and would love to see him team up with his Deliver Us From Evil director again (as early buzz on that film is pretty positive). While Ramirez has been building a steady and solid body of work, he really does deserve a big break that will put him onto the A-list, so I’m definitely rooting for him to grab a part in Doctor Strange.
We’ll keep you posted when we hear more, but for now, tell us, would you like to see Derrickson team up with Ramirez again?
