With the release of  The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey only several months away, the film’s merchandising engine is revving its engines, giving us some tantalizing hints at what we can expect to see on the big screen on December 14th. Thanks to  TheOneRing.net, who snapped the pic from the back of one of the film’s upcoming toys, we now have our first look at the ever-sexy Evangeline Lilly as the elf Tauriel.
Little is known about Lilly’s character; an original creation of the screenwriting team behind the films and not one depicted in any of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. While the addition of an original character has drawn some criticism from fans, reports indicate that many people involved in the production were impressed with the Lost alumni’s work on set.
However, it’s possible that Lilly’s character may not even show up until the second part of the trilogy. Speculation has it that she will only appear with Orlando Bloom’s Legolas in the second film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, since the trilogy was originally conceived as two films and much of the merchandising was already underway when the announcement of a third film was made.
We won’t know for sure until the film trilogy kicks off on December 14th, but regardless, Evangeline Lilly makes one sexy elf.
