Emma Stone To Join Woody Allen’s Latest With Joaquin Phoenix

When Emma Stone stepped onto the stage to introduce Cecil B. Demille award recipient Woody Allen at the Golden Globes, she could not help but praise her Magic in the Moonlight director. "The experience of working on that film with Woody changed my life," she told the crowd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. So, it is not too much of a surprise then that the Amazing Spider-Man actor and lip-sync champion has signed on to shoot another film with Allen this summer.

When Emma Stone stepped onto the stage to introduce Cecil B. Demille award recipient Woody Allen at the Golden Globes, she could not help but praise her Magic in the Moonlight director. “The experience of working on that film with Woody changed my life,” she told the crowd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. So, it is not too much of a surprise then that the Amazing Spider-Man actor and lip-sync champion has signed on to shoot another film with Allen this summer.

Stone will star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in a project that has very few known details, except that Allen will direct. It doesn’t even have a title yet. You can probably put money down that it will have a European locale though, as many of the director’s recent titles have been set abroad.

Allen is known for working with many of the same actors and has developed several muses during his more than four-decade film career. Scarlett Johansson, for instance, starred in three of his films over the last ten years – Match Point, Scoop and Vicky Christina Barcelona. He also worked on multiple occasions with Diane Keaton, Dianne Wiest and ex-wife Mia Farrow.

Recently, Allen managed to direct Cate Blanchett to an Oscar for Blue Jasmine. She was the sixth actor that he directed to an Oscar, which means that Stone could be in the running for a golden statue in the near future.

Magic in the Moonlight, Allen’s latest romantic comedy, starring Stone, Colin Firth, Marcia Gay Harden and Jacki Weaver, hits theatres on July 25th. When we hear more about this new project of his, we’ll be sure to let you know.
