Evangeline Lilly has been very vocal about her role in Marvel’s Ant-Man in the past; in fact, shortly after Edgar Wright exited the project, the Lord of the Rings actress revealed her hesitation to remain on board following the director’s abrupt departure.

Now, in a recent interview with CNN, Lilly elaborated on her impressions of the Marvel machine before she became involved, all the while teasing some of the heist elements in Peyton Reed’s upcoming superhero flick.

“I’ve been astounded to discover how good to their teams and crew that Marvel are. They’re so collaborative, so smart with their stories. They have rich, dynamic characters which are so much fun to play. I expected I’d be a cog in the wheel of a big machine — I wasn’t sure I’d like this experience. But I’ve been so astounded at how pleasurable the whole experience has been.

This one is very much a heist film. It has all the fun, tension and drama of a good heist film. The heist is being masterminded by myself, my father and Scott Lang.”

In the film, we understand that Lilly will step into the shoes of Hope Van Dyne, daughter to Michael Douglas’ character, Hank Pym. Truth be told, we’ve known that Marvel was orienting Ant-Man as a heist movie ever since Edgar Wright was attached to the film, and Lilly’s comments only reinforce the status of Paul Rudd as master thief Scott Lang. And it’s this Scott Lang that infiltrates Pym’s lab in the hope of getting his hands on the titular, physics-defying armor.

Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Corey Stoll, Michael Douglas, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Judy Greer, Tip “Ti” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, and Jordi Mollà, and will scurry into theaters on July 17, 2015.
