Even a genius like Hideo Kojima can’t follow the ‘Fast & Furious’ timeline

An admirable achievement by the franchise.

If it hasn’t become apparent after 11 movies, there’s a method to the madness that is consuming anything out of the Fast & Furious franchise; namely, you simply must sit back and take everything for what it is (as someone who never saw a Fast film before Fast X, I can confirm the effectiveness of such a strategy).

That being said, there comes a point in time when one’s spider web of a plot (or the closest one can provide) becomes a touch too messy to even grasp in passing, and while there’s no available metric to figure out the point of no return, a good rule of thumb is that if you confuse the guy who made Death Stranding, you’re probably a teensy bit too far off the chain.

Not too long ago, the one and only Hideo Kojima made a tweet detailing his experience with the Fast franchise, revealing himself as a veteran viewer of the series up to and including Fast X. He would also go on to reveal, however, that he has no idea what’s happened for the last 20 or so years in the world of Dominic Toretto and company.

It’s pure, unadulterated comedy, really; Kojima, a man whose brain could lead to a century’s worth of human advancement if he ends up donating it to science when he dies, can’t seem to wrap his head around the ins and outs of The Fast Saga. We’re not exactly sure what it says about the maverick creative, his body of work, or the movies themselves, but it’s perfect all the same.

And, if you won’t heed the advice from earlier, take it from the Metal Gear mastermind, who ended the tweet by saying he always has a blast in spite of not knowing what’s going on.

Fast X, in all its nonsensical glory, is now playing in theaters.
