Even Princess Leia thought that one scene in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ was absolutely ridiculous

Talk about plain sight.

You know you haven’t been doing your writing homework when the youngest cast member calls you out on a lazy plot point, but that indeed seems to be the stew Obi-Wan Kenobi writers Joby Harold and Hannah Friedman find themselves in after Vivien Lyra Blair’s raucous appearance at Star Wars Celebration in London.

It seems that even the young Princess Leia can’t fathom how she escaped Fortress Inquisitorius — the most heavily guarded Imperial base — by hiding under Obi-Wan Kenobi’s coat.

Appearing alongside her co-star Ewan McGregor, who looked to be preparing for a role as an old-timey clockmaker by rocking that very-not-Kenobi-looking mustache, Blair was pretty candid about why she thought that sequence made zero sense.

“I kept saying, ‘How is anyone believing that this random lump inside this guy’s coat is just normal?’” Vivien says, laughing. “How is this happening?”

Well, princess, we’ve been asking that same question ever since Disney took over Star Wars in 2012.

Realistically, Obi-Wan wouldn’t have been able to make it ten steps without raising the alarm. And it makes us wonder if the reason Stormtroopers have such poor aim is that they simply can’t see anything behind those insect-like helmets.

Fans have remarked that it would be just like Carrie Fisher to blatantly criticize the plot like that, so if there’s one thing the Obi-Wan Kenobi crew did extremely well, it was choosing this talented, well-spoken, and lively young actress to bring our Princess to life.

Are the prospects of a Leia spinoff featuring Lyra Blair looking increasingly exciting to you, as well?

Well, there you have it, folks. It looks like Vivien Lyra Blair would make a better story consultant than all the writers in Lucasfilm’s story group.
