Bruce Campbell works for you. Not literally, but in the sense that he's been working hard to get your precious Evil Dead remake branded with an R rating. Because that's what you want, isn't it? Bruce Campbell works for you. Not literally, but in the sense that he’s been working hard to get your precious Evil Dead remake branded with an R rating. Because that’s what you want, isn’t it? You want blood and gore and a seemingly endless array of filthy and perverted scenes? You like it, don’t you? No, no… You love it. Yes? Well, Campbell loves it too, going by these recent comments, and wants to grant fans the most depraved cut of the film possible, apparently:

“We do care what the fans think. There was a lot of negative reactions… they were concerned. But we’re all over this project. Hopefully that will mellow fans out. We have to try and get it to R. Wish us luck. We haven’t gone through the ratings nightmare yet, that’s coming. We have a screening coming up for the MPAA, I can hear them laughing already. ‘You want an R rating?’ I can hear their evil cackle from here. We’re gonna see, but we’re gonna give them the toughest version that we can give them. That’s what you want from a horror movie, man. Especially one called Evil Dead.”

At least he knows that Evil Dead fans are wrong in the head. Let’s hope their intended cut gets the proper rating, then. Though I do wonder what exactly the MPAA’s policy on tree rape is.

The Book of the Dead is opened once again on April 12th 2013. Are you looking forward to the remake? Let us know in the comments.
