Three images of the upcoming comic book comedy Super have been released. There hasn’t been much news surrounding this film and these pictures are the only form of publicity we’ve seen to date.

The film tackles the comic book trend happening these days, but differs from the rest by making it into a comedy. Funny man Rainn Wilson (The Office) stars in the film alongside the very talented Ellen Page (Inception), Liv Tyler (The Incredible Hulk), and Kevin Bacon (Mystic River). Director and writer of the film is James Gunn who is noticeable for writing credits on the horror flick Dawn of the Dead and Scooby-Doo, as well as directing Slither. The movie does have some potential but there simply is not enough evidence for any speculations, thus far. We haven’t seen enough of it to make a fair call.

The synopsis of the film according to IGN is as follows:

Frank’s (Rainn Wilson) wife leaves him for a seductive, psychopathic drug dealer (Kevin Bacon), Frank is transformed and the Crimson Bolt is born. With a hand-made suit, a wrench, and a crazed sidekick named Boltie (Ellen Page), the Crimson Bolt beats his way through the mean streets of crime in hopes of saving his wife (Liv Tyler). The rules were written a long time ago: You are not supposed to molest children, cut lines or key cars; if you do, prepare to face the wrath of the Crimson Bolt!

What do you think? Can you see potential in this movie based on the synopsis and pictures alone?

Super is set to release on April 1, 2010.
