Though he’s usually known for his roles in dramatic or comedic films, actor Aaron Eckhart has been looking to change that in recent years. 2011 saw him star in Battle: Los Angeles and the year after he put out two more efforts in hopes of solidifying himself as a bonafide action lead: Erased and Olympus Has Fallen.

Now, Eckhart is getting ready to release his newest movie, I, Frankenstein, which marks his most physical role to date. In the film, based on Kevin Grevioux’s graphic novel, Eckhart portrays Adam, the creation of scientist Victor Frankenstein. Due to the secret of his immortality, Adam finds himself caught up in a centuries-old war between gargoyles and demons, as each side wants to use him to gain an advantage over the other.

For a January release, I, Frankenstein is a pretty entertaining watch. Full of CGI and Aaron Eckhart kicking demon ass, it’s an enjoyable ride through a fantastical world that offers up some mindless action for audiences to feast on.

Recently, at the film’s Toronto press day, we had the chance to catch up with Eckhart for an exclusive video interview. During our discussion with the actor, he told us about how he trained for the role, why he thinks the character of Frankenstein resonates so strongly with audiences, how working with so much CGI changes things and much more.

Check it all out in the video below, and be sure to catch I, Frankenstein when it hits theaters this Friday!
