We've seen a ton of movies exploring the economic crisis of 2008, yet few, if any, have been as riveting and eye-opening as Adam McKay's The Big Short, which is based on Michael Lewis' best-selling book of the same name. Our very own Matt Donato published his thoughts on McKay’s latest several days ago, concluding the following:

The Big Short is a no-bullshit, consistently engaging piece of cinema that’s as poignant as it is entertaining, shining a uniquely cynical light on a low point in America’s financial history.

High praise indeed, but definitely deserving. The Big Short is one of our favorite films of the year, and once you get the chance to check it out, we’re sure that you’ll agree.

While on the promotional circuit earlier this month, we had the chance to catch up with McKay and speak with him about it. Stopping in Toronto for a quick chat, the director was friendly and more than happy to discuss the film. We spoke about balancing the humor and the drama, making it digestible for a wide audience and much more.

Hear what Adam McKay had to say in the video above and be sure to catch The Big Short as it’s now playing in limited release, with plans to expand on December 23rd.
