Written and directed by Andrew Bujalski, the low-key comedy centers on a no-nonsense fitness trainer (Cobie Smulders) and a gym owner, whose rocky relationship is further shaken by a rich yet miserable new customer (Kevin Corrigan). The unhurried film is largely about radically different people shaping one another’s life for the better, and the result (sorry, I had to) is a light, easy and enjoyable watch.

At the recent New York press day for the film, we had the chance to sit down with Smulders and Pearce to learn more about their creative process and the amusing dynamic between their characters.
