Family Is Everything In New Poster For The Fate Of The Furious

The Fast and Furious franchise has always been about family. Well, family and driving the world's fanciest cars through increasingly ridiculous action set-pieces. That's why the latest installment, The Fate of the Furious, comes equipped with the tagline "Never give up on family." Yet, it appears that's precisely what Vin Diesel's Dom is doing on this latest poster, which you can see below.

The Fast and Furious franchise has always been about family. Well, family and driving the world’s fanciest cars through increasingly ridiculous action set-pieces. That’s why the latest installment, The Fate of the Furious, comes equipped with the tagline Never give up on family. Yet, it appears that’s precisely what Vin Diesel’s Dom is doing on this latest poster, which you can see below.

Mistrust and betrayal are the order of the day in the upcoming sequel. This time, we encounter the gang at what looks like an ominously calm period in their lives. The crew has even been officially exonerated for their crimes, all enjoying a taste of life on the right side of the law without too much excitement. Enter a mysterious newcomer, played by Charlize Theron, who drags Dom back to a world of crime, apparently betraying his hard-won family along the way.

The film promises the usual F&F cocktail of mind-boggling automobile action, this time ranging from sunny Cuba to New York City and a ludicrously fun looking nuclear submarine set piece on top of the frozen Barents Sea. It all looks like precisely the kind of high-octane thrills that have propelled the franchise through eight increasingly successful installments, and it shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.

At this point, The Fast and the Furious is an outright phenomenon – what other franchise can sustain momentum over this many entries? Universal have struck gold with their combination of genuine chemistry in the cast and switching up directors to keep things fresh. It’s real easy for cineastes to turn their nose up at yet more car-based action scenes and witty quips, but this series clearly still has gas left in the tank.

The Fate of the Furious hits theaters on April 17th.
