Fans accept they’ll never get a new album after Rihanna joins cast of new Smurf film as Smurfette

The new animated film is set to hit theaters on Valentine's Day 2025.

Fans are losing their minds after finding out that the Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Rihanna is involved in yet another project that doesn’t include releasing an album after the “Lift Me Up” singer becomes the latest star to join the cast in the upcoming Smurf film, The Smurfs Movie

The new mom, who is currently expecting her second child with boyfriend and rapper A$AP Rocky, will be voicing the character of Smurfette in the new Paramount film. During the announcement at CinemaCon, Rihanna made a surprise appearance where she joked that she attempted to get the role of Papa Smurf, “but it didn’t work out.”

Some fans have already declared that the Barbadian singer was “going to be the best” voice for the role of Smurfette “ever.”

Meanwhile, others appeared to succumb to fears that perhaps they should’ve appreciated the singer’s non-stop run that saw her release an album every year from 2005 to 2012 when she released, Unapologetic. The singer would return three years later with one of her most critically acclaimed projects to date, Anti

However, as we all know, it didn’t last, and Rihanna again stepped away from the music scene to entertain other avenues of business, including skincare and fashion, which ultimately gained her a membership to the billionaire’s club.

“Y’all are never getting that album,” fans cried across Twitter. A seemingly upset supporter called the singer  “queen of doing anything that it takes to not have to record her new album.”

Although we still don’t know when, or rather, if, we’ll ever get another album from Rihanna, but you can catch the star’s voice in The Smurfs Movie in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
