Having the tough task of following up Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home is becoming one of the most anticipated blockbusters of the summer. With that challenge, the film’s got to hide some cards up its sleeve in order to keep folks excited. But it’s not like Marvel’s ever had a problem in the fan-satisfaction department.

In fact, several people over on Reddit (and a few sources close to We Got This Covered) have now revealed one of those cards. And it’ll take the form of a cameo appearance during the mid-credits scene. Of course, spoilers will follow from here on in so if you want to walk into the film with a clean slate, turn back now. You’ve been warned.

Still with us? Good, because apparently, we’ll be seeing the old, familiar, not-so-friendly face of Daily Bugle editor J. Jonah Jameson shortly after the events of Far From Home. And you know what makes that front page news even better? J.K. Simmons will be returning for the role. The quick spot will apparently show the disgruntled newspaper man on TV bashing the web-slinger, calling him, you guessed it…a “menace!”

Of course, Simmons played the iconic part most famously in all three of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, from 2002 until 2007. But he’s also voiced the character on several animated TV series, including Ultimate Spider-ManHulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Avengers Assemble, The Simpsons and even Robot Chicken.

Despite all those credits, Simmons has never appeared in an MCU Spider-Man movie. With that said, neither has the Jameson character, given that this Peter’s primary focus, outside of crimefighting, is school. But the Academy Award-winning actor hasn’t been totally absent from the big screen during this comic book craze, having played Commissioner Gordon for Zack Snyder over in the DCEU.

Personally, this news has gotten me even more excited to see Spider-Man: Far From Home. Simmons and Gyllenhaal? I mean, come on! It’s unclear how exactly Jameson will factor into future films, or if he’ll even appear again in the MCU, but seeing him in a surprise cameo at the end of the upcoming sequel will no doubt make fans go nuts.
