In his long, successful career, Ben Stiller has portrayed many quirky characters in films such as Zoolander, Tropic Thunder, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Night at the Museum. But as the actor gets older there is one role that fans would love to see the actor return to.

With Stiller recently turning 56 he is now the same age as Robert De Niro was when they filmed the hit comedy Meet the Parents. A recent discussion on Reddit posed the idea of Stiller returning to his role as Greg Focker but this time as the unapproving father.

With the post receiving over 31 thousand upvotes it’s clear to see that many fans would be very keen to see this sequel come to life. One fan even went as far as pitching some ideas of their own.

“I would call it ‘Old Fockers’ and include a theme about how the new boyfriend makes Ben Stiller’s character go through an ‘old life’ crisis.”

Despite the movie idea gaining a lot of traction, many Redditors were simply shocked at the fact that De Niro was that young when the movie was filmed because in their mind he was always much older.

“woah. Robert De Niro looks 65 in that movie. Shocked that he was only 56.”

“To be fair, De Niro has looked 65 for most of his life.”

Age shouldn’t be a problem for the 78 year old actor, who has shown no signs of slowing down and has even used CGI in order to portray a younger version of himself in The Irishman. De Niro is also more than capable of turning out great performances as he gets older as proven by a recent Oscar nomination in 2020 for the same film.

Considering the most recent sequel to the Meet the Parents franchise was Little Fockers back in 2010, and the fact it made a substantial $310 million worldwide, it’s clear that audiences would be happy to occupy seats if a sequel was produced.
