A new image from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald gives us our best hint yet at the familial and romantic drama that Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander will face in the upcoming Wizarding World sequel.

The image sets the scene for a sibling rivalry between Newt and his brother Theseus (Callum Turner). Stuck in the middle, of course, is Leta Lestrange, as played by Zoe Kravitz, who’s the object of both boys’ affections.

Leta was first glimpsed in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them via a photograph in Newt’s possession that indicated she was the one that got away, his sweetheart while at Hogwarts. In the follow-up, we’ll discover that Leta went on to become engaged to Theseus instead. As you’d expect, Newt – who clearly still has feelings for her – isn’t totally OK with his brother planning on marrying his ex. As for Leta, it’s not yet known where her true loyalty lies, but we imagine this will all make for a pretty messy love triangle.

Not that Crimes of Grindelwald will be all about Newt’s love life, mind you. As the title suggests, the main thrust of the plot will be the rising threat of Johnny Depp’s Gellert Grindelwald. Due to unknown reasons, his nemesis Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) is unable to intervene and so he sends Newt as his agent to investigate what the dark wizard’s up to in Paris.

This is still a Fantastic Beasts film, though, and more of Newt’s menagerie of magical creatures will also appear. EW previously revealed that a few new beasties will show up in the movie. Namely, the underwater Kelpie, the moose-like Leucrotta and the Augurey, an owl-esque bird whose chilling cry is said to foretell death.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set to Apparate into cinemas on November 16th, and as soon as we learn more about what’s in store for Newt and the love of his life, we’ll be sure to let you know.
