Not even 24 hours have passed since J.K. Rowling and David Yates publically defended their decision to keep Depp in The Crimes of Grindelwald as the titular antagonist – a move that was widely criticized due to the domestic abuse allegations leveled against the prominent star – and Heard has now taken to social media to issue her response.

The post was accompanied by the joint statement released by Johnny Depp and Amber Heard upon reaching a divorce settlement (see below), with the added caption: “To pick and choose certain lines and quote them out of context, is just not right.”

This is presumably referring to Warner’s own statement, after the studio cited Heard’s original message in its defense of Depp…but it seems some elements were taken out of context.

We are of course aware of reports that surfaced around the end of Johnny Depp’s marriage, and take seriously the complexity of the issues involved. This matter has been jointly addressed by both parties, in a statement in which they said ‘there was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.’ Based on the circumstances and the information available to us, we, along with the filmmakers, continue to support the decision to proceed with Johnny Depp in the role of Grindelwald in this and future films.

Amber Head has now called out Warner Bros., stating:

Meanwhile, J.K. Rowling and director David Yates are of the belief that Johnny Depp should remain in The Crimes of Grindelwald – and, by effect, its many sequels. The former also admitted that she is now “genuinely happy” to have Depp as part of the ensemble cast, as it is her understanding that both Amber Heard and Depp want to put the past behind them.

Expect Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald to put a spell on moviegoers come 2018.
