That’s according to Eddie Redmayne, lead star of Warner’s Fantastic Beasts prequel saga (for now), who issued a warning to Potterheads while speaking with Entertainment Weekly.

Indeed, the actor’s comments arrive in good time; Warner Bros. is all set to light up San Diego Comic-Con tomorrow, July 21st, with Shazam!, Aquaman and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald. All three movies will likely receive brand new trailers, along with plenty of intel relating to their respective stories – stories that will no doubt capture the imagination of fans long into 2019.

For The Crimes of Grindelwald, in particular, it seems Warner and David Yates’ fantastical sequel is best described as a thrilling page-turner. Or so says Redmayne:

The most riveting aspect is the tonal change. It’s darker and more rigorous and weaving in the Potter lore we’re much more familiar with. So these characters you met in the first film are now in the wizarding world you understand more thoroughly. When I read [the script] it had these cryptic elements to it and it played like a thriller that made it a page-turner.

This Potter prequel also plans to whisk its viewers back to Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft and wizardry and the one true home of Albus Dumbledore. This time around, the would-be headmaster is being brought to life by Jude Law, and while there has been some debate surrounding The Crimes of Grindelwald and its handling of Dumbledore’s sexuality, Eddie Redmayne went on to detail how his Newt Scamander turns to his former mentor during his time of need.

I’m enlisted by Dumbledore (Jude Law) to try and track him down and capture him. What’s happened is Grindelwald’s belief that purebloods should reign over all non-magical beings is a political thing. He’s rallying more and more people and it causes divisions across families. He’s pretty hypnotic.

There’s a dark wizard on the loose, and we’ll be able to get a better read on Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald once Warner’s SDCC panel kicks off tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned for more.
