Yes, Katherine Waterston’s half-blood is officially part of the ensemble cast for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, and Warner Bros. has today released a new action shot to prove it.

Lifted from the pages of Empire Magazine, the gilded close-up heralds the reunion of Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein and her magical spouse, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), and by the looks of things, trouble is afoot. Those of you who have already seen its predecessor, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, will know that The Crimes of Grindelwald largely focuses on the young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) and his fearsome nemesis, Gellert Grindelwald, who is to be played by Johnny Depp.

No sign of Depp’s white-haired wizard just yet – you know, barring the sequel’s animated cast photo – but we imagine the great, gregarious Grindelwald is either just out of shot, or quietly plotting the downfall of MACUSA from the shadows.

Via Empire:

Think of Grindelwald as the 1920s Voldemort (AKA He Who Must Not Be Named) and you’ll begin to get an idea of what’s in store. Thankfully, Newt and Tina won’t have to go it alone, as The Crimes of Grindelwald has filled its cast with Callum Turner’s Theseus Scamander, Zoë Kravitz’s Leta Lestrange, and Claudia Kim’s mysterious Snake Girl. There’s also room in its ranks for Dan Fogler as the whip-smart muggle, Jacob Kowalski.

With so much attention being paid to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – filming has now wrapped, after all – surely we’re only a few weeks away from catching the first teaser trailer? A November 2018 release date is on the cards, while Warner Bros. has also drawn up plans for another three instalments in its Potter prequel saga.
