“Phase 4” may now take on a whole new meaning, as Den Of Geek is reporting that 20th Century Fox has given up the rights to the Fantastic Four to Marvel Studios, and a new movie has been scheduled for 2020.
This comes on the heels of yesterday’s news that Marvel and Fox have teamed up to produce two TV shows based on characters from the X-Men universe: Legion and Hellfire. Many fans wondered what Marvel must have gotten in exchange for allowing Fox to develop these X-related series – something they didn’t have permission to do for many years – and it seems we’ve just found out.
Though Fox seemed adamant that they were going to move ahead with a sequel to Josh Trank’s recent reboot, the critical and commercial embarrassment that movie has become means this was probably an inevitability. The site also reports that one of the mystery 2020 movies Marvel announced along with the Ant-Man sequel will in fact be a brand new Fantastic Four flick.
Of course, this is just a rumor for now, but as always, let us know what you think in the comments section.
