Joss Whedon‘s much-anticipated The Avengers is still about a month away from theaters. We’ve been treated to a ton of promotional material thus far an now, fans have even more to gush over while they wait for their favorite superheroes to assemble on the big screen.

Norton has given us an interesting behind the scenes look at the making of the film. The featurette not only has clips from the movie itself, but it gives fans a background on the project and takes a look at how a film starring so many superheroes was put together. There is also a heavy focus on the success of the Iron Man franchise and how that stemmed a new vision of the superhero, with Thor and Captain America following.

On top of the featurette, we have several new stills of the large cast of characters that make up this film’s solid ensemble.  You can check them out below.

The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson. It will hit theatres on May 4th, 2012.
