Deadline is reporting that the long awaited Anchorman sequel, Anchorman 2, is finally coming together, with Will Ferrell set to return. Judd Apatow will produce and longtime Ferrell collaborator Adam McKay will direct and write. Ferrell’s co-stars from the first film, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, are also said to be returning.

Anchorman 2 has been a longtime coming and I’m happy to see that it’s finally official. I didn’t love Anchorman but I did enjoy it. It was one of Ferrell’s better films and I’m a big fan of Rudd and Carell too, and both of them were great in the movie. Hopefully some of the other cast members return as well, it’d be nice to see the whole gang back on board.

Most people rank the film among their favorite comedies of all time and while I don’t exactly agree with that, it was still a very funny movie and I think that the sequel will please fans who have been waiting years to see the film. It was supposed to happen back in 2010 but Paramount passed on it, causing it to enter production hell. Now that it’s out, and under the supervision of Mr. Apatow, fans can rest easy.
